World Vision's Second Batch of Relief Items Arrived in Jiangxi Province

World Vision China distributed humanitarian aid in Jiangxi Province in mid-July, after assessing damages caused by severe floods in the province.

This week, World Vision China distributed another 288 tons of rice, 7,200 quilts and 4,800 family kits, worth RMB346 million in total, in Wuyuan County and Pengze County, Jiangxi Province. About 50 thousand people benefitted from the distributed aid.

According to reports about flood control and relief work in Jiangxi, the downpour which began from June 2, 2020 is one of the longest continuous rainfall in the region. The aftermath caused is also one of the largest recorded so far. As of September 1, a total of 9.037 million people have been affected by the floods, and the direct economic loss is RMB34.43 billion.

The government and all sectors of society have lent a hand to those affected by the floods. World Vision China sent an assessment team to Wuyuan County and Pengze County in Jiangxi Province to evaluate the damages and sent RMB250,000 worth of humanitarian aid supplies in mid-July.

Reconstruction work began when the floodwater receded, but the incessant rainfall continues to affect the livelihood of many. To help those affected get through this challenging time, World Vision China has distributed another 288 tons of rice, 7,200 quilts and 4,800 family kits, worth RMB346 million in total, in Wuyuan County and Pengze County, Jiangxi Province.

With the support of the Civil Affairs Bureau of Wuyuan County, Wuyuan Charity Association, Wuyuan Jin Zi Ai Xin Association, Pengze County government, Civil Affairs Bureau of Pengze County, Pengze Charity Association and the Pengze County Volunteer Association, humanitarian aid was distributed in 12 villages and town in Wuyuan County and Pengze County.
