World Vision Donates RMB 200,000 of Relief Supplies in Jiangxi Province

Heavy rainfall hit seven provinces in southern China, particularly Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi and Hunan. More than 6 million people have been affected by floods and landslides triggered by the downpour.

At the end of June, World Vision China sent teams to Wuyuan County, Ganxian District of Jiangxi, and Yingde City of Guangdong to identify vulnerable households and the needs of children and families affected by floods. A preliminary assessment showed that those affected urgently need of daily essentials.

In early July, World Vision donated RMB200,000 of relief supplies to Wuyuan County and Ganxian District of Jiangxi Province in cooperation with local partners. Relief supplies consisted of 1,800 bags of rice (10 kilograms per bag) and 1,800 barrels of cooking oil (4 liters per barrel).

There are five members in Chunhua's family. When the floods hit her community, she did not manage to save any household essentials in her house because she was taking care of her less than three-year-old son. As a result, the water flooded the electrical appliances and furniture in her home. Besides that, their farmland has also been destroyed, so there is no harvest. Chunhua received a bag of rice and a barrel of cooking oil at the distribution location. She expressed her gratitude to the local government and World Vision.
